Summary of Primary Job Responsibilities

 

Responsible for management of a centralized project management team. Oversees PMO-driven projects to ensure that information concerning content (e.g., deliverables, risks, issues, etc.) passes to and from sponsors. Responsible for performance management of the PMO. Ensures that project managers are poised to meet the objectives and goals of each project. Provides leadership in best practices and is highly customer-focused -- outward and upward. Ensures that the operational issues of the PMO are managed, focusing on the interface with project leaders, project teams and technology interface issues.

 

Attracts, develops and retains a project management group by creating and maintaining a project management competency model. Ensures skill set training, certification and development plans are completed for all project managers. Establishes a capacity model, strategy and plan to ensure that the projected skill demands are met. Collects and maintains data on resource availability, skills, preferences and demand.

 

Other duties include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Serve as Project Manager (as needed).
  • Ensure the Sitel PMO process standards are met for each implementation.
  • Identifying key management and non-management personnel to participate in short-term project teams based on broad knowledge of technology, marketing, legal compliance, finance and operations.
  • Support and coordination of work amongst the members of the project management group. Identification of resource needs (staff and budget) throughout the year.
  • Responsible for hiring and performance management for senior project management team
  • Development of project management certification model, performance plans, (SKEPS) and evaluation models.
  • Manages the project manager resource model and project repository.
  • Creation of project management templates (plans and dashboards), identification of tools and techniques and establishment of project management documentation retention policies.
  • Maintenance of project management group software and hardware purchases.
  • Development and presentation of project plans and cost/benefit analyses for plans/ideas/products to upper management in order to gain approval to move forward.
  • Support sales team members by providing text for proposals, and developing sample project time lines.
  • Design and facilitate Project Management training programs and coaching, facilitating knowledge sharing among project managers.
  • Communicating project status to appropriate stakeholders, by preparing weekly reports and other ad hoc status reports.
  • Ensuring that the project management group carries out skillful application of the Sitel Global Operating System (GOS).
  • Collection of performance evaluations on each project manager at completion or discontinuation of each project.
  • Ensuring that initial project plans can be compared with built-out project plans and with the final project plan to provide performance measurements and information for process improvement; ensuring that performance evaluations are provided for each team member to their designated operational managers at the completion or discontinuation of each project.
  • Responsibility and accountability for project success and ensuring that project milestones are delivered with quality, on-time and within targeted budgets, meeting or exceeding internal or external customer expectations.
  • Proactively identifying opportunities and delivering process improvement; evangelizing project management methodology through training, role modeling and influencing operations teams.
  • Maintenance of project management group budgeting and scheduling.

 

Education Four-year college degree and 5 years of relevant professional experience managing projects, budgets and staff, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Experience Target  5-8 years of previous project management and leadership experience, including large scale, international deployments. Prior experience in directly managing project managers or equivalent experience required. 

 

Skills: Effective skills in using Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Project.

 

Knowledge/Abilities:  Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving and communication skills. Ability to lead a professional staff.

 

Special Certifications:  PMP and other project certifications preferred. Quality and auditing certifications preferred (including Six Sigma).

 

Travel Required: 50-60% domestic and international travel.  As the most efficient, cost-effective itinerary will be used, mode of transportation will vary (airplane, automobile, etc.).
